  • Elevating the injured area by using a pillow and wrapping your knee with an elastic bandage can help with the swelling and healing process.
  • Reduce stress to your knee by using crutches or a wheelchair. When lying or sitting down, have a family or a friend help you stand up to reduce as much stress on the knee as possible.
  • Limiting your activities is known to be a good pain management solution when it comes to knee pain. Do avoid any vigorous exercise such as weight lifting, running, snowboarding and other type of sports.

The “Don’ts” of Knee Pain Management

  • Don’t rest too much. After the healing process is over, it’s best to find an exercise and stretches that is good for your knee. Too much rest can weaken your muscle and stiffen the knee.
  • Don’t let your weight be the cause of the problem. Being overweight can put a lot of stress on your knee joints and may increase the risk of osteoarthritis.
